Technology
Our goal is to be an industry leader. It doesn’t matter whether that is in the field or in the office.
Our Approach
Advances in mobile technology, open source software and cloud computing have opened up new opportunities for sophisticated companies. As part of AGI’s “Field Technology Program” every AGI crew is equipped with a smart phone and a tablet. We use a variety of specialized software applications along with these smart mobile devices to transfer information to and from the field. This has allowed AGI to become almost entirely paperless in the office. Everything is captured and stored in a custom database.
We are not like the average contractor. We know that technology is changing the way every business operates – regardless of industry. AGI embraces that fact. As a company we invest a significant amount of time, money and resources into our information systems. These investments are backed up with in-house training programs and support for all of our employees.
Industry Challenges
Let’s be honest – construction workers and technology usually don’t mix. Historically, it’s not really part of our industry’s culture. When we started our technology program in July of 2012, this was a big concern. How do you get people who have never really worked with technology and software to buy into your program?
Our approach was simple. We listened. We brought in all of the employees who were going to use the devices and software. We got them involved during the design phase and we listened to their concerns and ideas. The end result was a very simple, easy to use system designed by the people, for the people. Ultimately, this led to a very successful program launch in March of 2013.
The Future
We will never stop looking to improve our use of technology. We will always be open to new ideas and new approaches. Our goal is to be an industry leader. It doesn’t matter whether that is in the field or in the office.
